Kidney Stones

Kidney Stones

Kidney stones are one of the most common urological disorders in India, often causing severe pain, even said to be worse than childbirth. They affect around 5 to 7 million people in the country, and nearly 1 in every 1,000 individuals requires hospitalization each year. These stones form due to mineral deposits in the kidneys and can move into the ureters or bladder, resulting in discomfort, obstruction, and in some cases, the need for medical or surgical treatment.

Bladder Cancer

Bladder Cancer

Bladder stones may either develop inside the bladder due to urine stagnation or reach there by descending from the kidneys through the ureters. These stones often form when there is an obstruction in the urinary tract that prevents complete bladder emptying. This leads to concentrated urine, which allows minerals to crystallize. Over time, the crystals grow into stones that can cause symptoms like pain, urinary difficulty, or infections if left untreated."

Ureteric Stone

The ureter is a muscular, narrow, tube-like structure that connects each kidney to the urinary bladder. It measures around 25 to 30 cm in length and 3 to 4 mm in diameter. Its main role is to carry urine from the kidneys to the bladder using rhythmic contractions called peristaltic waves. There are three natural narrow points along the ureter where blockages are more likely. To prevent urine from flowing backward into the kidney, ureterovesical valves are located where the ureter joins the bladder.

Kidney Cancer

Kidney cancer usually affects one or both kidneys and is seen more frequently in men than in women. It typically develops after the age of 45 to 50. Any abnormal growth in the kidney is considered malignant unless proven otherwise. These tumors are commonly referred to as Renal Cell Carcinoma. With advancements in imaging technology such as ultrasound, CT scans, and MRI, early detection has become more common. Dr. Dilip Raja, a leading kidney cancer specialist in Mumbai, is highly experienced in diagnosing and treating kidney cancer with the latest medical techniques, improving long-term outcomes.

Prostate Treatment

Prostate Cancer

The prostate is a small, walnut-sized gland that surrounds the urethra and lies just below the urinary bladder. It is part of the male reproductive system and usually measures about 3 cm thick and 4 cm wide in adult men, weighing around 20 grams. With age, the prostate may enlarge and weigh between 40 to 100 grams or more. Prostate cancer is among the top ten leading cancers in India and primarily affects men over 50 years of age. Recently, an increase in cases has also been noted in men aged 35–44 and 55–64, especially in urban populations. Early detection and treatment play a key role in managing this disease.
